Josue’s New Heart

FOG HOPE School Alumni Josue

Josue’s story is an amazing example of the power of many hands working together. “Friends of Guatemala” is not just the name of our organization; it is our philosophy and our practice- joining hands and resources to help out in one small part of the world. In 2008 many people, events, and some divine intervention came together to bring Josue from Guatemala to the US for a life-saving heart procedure. Thanks to the administration and medical staff of Roper St. Frances Hospital in Charleston, SC Josue has a new heart and a great story to tell. You can read that story in the hospital newsletter – Josue at RSFH . A special thanks to Dr. David Peterseim who arranged the medical procedure and hosted Josue in his home.

Josue’s family came to the airport to see him off- his mother Maria, brother Francisco and little sister Jennifer

Reinforcements came down to help: Esther Bridger, Kristi Maxwell, and Nancy Winfrey

While recuperating in Apex, NC with the Winfreys Josue painted (and sold!) some beautiful art.

One of many gatherings- this one at the home of Vanessa Nash.
